Marcus Reid runs the Men's Luxe Guide review desk. He sets the criteria for each category before products are evaluated, oversees the documentary verification behind every entry, and signs off on the final verdict. His remit covers the publication's jewelry and watch coverage most closely, the two categories where the gap between a marketing claim and a verifiable one is widest.

How he works

Marcus's editorial position is simple and unglamorous: a claim is worth what its evidence is worth. A stone is graded against a recognized scale or it is recorded as ungraded. A water-resistance rating cites a standard or it does not count. A "passes a diamond tester" demonstration is reported for exactly what it proves, no more. The job of a reviewer, in his view, is to put the evidence in plain sight and let the ranking follow from it, rather than to perform expertise.
